Brighter Homes oversaw an extensive and sensitive restoration of a traditional farmhouse in Sellindge, addressing both structural issues and complete internal modernisation while retaining the building’s heritage character.

The project began with underpinning to stabilise failed foundations and resolve long-standing subsidence cracking. Structural alterations were carried out in the kitchen to create new utility and pantry spaces, supported by the careful removal of asbestos and full re-tacking and plastering throughout the home.

The team installed bespoke joinery in the kitchen and pantry, alongside a full internal refurbishment that incorporated heritage-appropriate damp-proofing solutions.

Flooring works included the installation of stone tiles and heritage natural oak flooring on the ground floor, while the original first-floor timber planks were fully restored.

Three bathrooms and ensuites were completely refurbished, and the entire property underwent a full re-plumb and re-wire, including a new heating system with boilers and a plant room.

Finishing touches included complete re-decoration, new doors and windows where needed, and bespoke internal wardrobe joinery — resulting in a beautifully restored farmhouse that blends historical integrity with modern comfort.

"Thank you for this. We still can't quite believe we live here, and that it's finished and we survived.

Thanks so much for how on top of the whole thing you've been, would have been a very different experience had you not been there. We really do appreciate the care and pride you have taken in the project hugely.

A huge thanks to you and the team for all you’ve done. It’s really been a pleasure and I’m sure not many people can say that after a project like this!"
