Historic restoration and structural repair of a landmark timber-framed property.
Historic restoration and structural repair of a landmark timber-framed property.
Kent
£100k
The project involved a complete exterior refurbishment of a historic timber-framed property. Works included the restoration of all window joinery, repair of exterior rendered areas, and replacement of windows where decay had gone beyond reasonable salvage.
Cast iron rainwater goods were overhauled, with specified sections replaced. Glazing and leaded light repairs were carried out, along with pointing and brickwork restoration. Major oak frame structural repairs and timber replacements were also completed on the exposed elevations.
The Kent peg roofs were overhauled, including a full strip and replacement of one elevation. This required careful sorting and re-use of original peg tiles, supplemented with reclaimed stock to match. Oak rafters and wall plates were repaired or replaced as necessary.
Internally, structural alterations were made to the oak timber frame to strengthen the building. These works ensured the property retained its historic character while being safe and fit for purpose. This complex project highlights our specialized skills in heritage property renovations and refurbishments across Kent.
